Earthquake Safety – Elevators

The earthquake that struck the Canterbury Region during the early hours of Saturday 4^th September 2010 and the subsequent and more devastating events of February 22^nd this year, resulted in severe levels of damage to property and unfortunately, the loss of lives.

A number of lifts in the Christchurch area were fitted with Counterweight Displacement Detectors and their successful activation undoubtedly reduced the level of equipment damage and injuries.
