Property Officer

We are searching for a unique individual to join us as Property Officer in our busy Property Unit.

The Council’s property portfolio includes a wide range of properties which fill diverse needs for the organisation and the community. The primary activities of the Property Officer role will be to maintain the Council’s property portfolio in accordance with legal requirements, Council policy and plans, ensuring that they generate income and improve the provision of service and/or benefit to the community.

This is a position of responsibility with an emphasis on building a robust land and property lease portfolio and systems, as well as delivering a range of services to other units including managing processes for easements, road stopping, acquisitions and disposals. It will suit a person who enjoys challenges, has some get up and go with an excellent standard of customer service and a property related tertiary qualification or similar. The ability to demonstrate knowledge of the Property Law, Reserves, Public Works and Local Government Acts will be advantageous as will previous technical experience.

The ideal applicant will be versatile and multi-skilled and enjoy the challenge of a wide variety of work. They should be self-motivated and able to work under pressure, be well organised and have the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. A positive, co-operative attitude, great people skills, a willingness to work in a busy team environment and sound written and oral communication skills are also required.

Engagement Coordinator

Engagement Coordinator

The Dunedin City Council’s Property Services Group is responsible for a range of facilities for our varied community stakeholders including: playgrounds and sports facilities, swimming pools, libraries, community housing, cemeteries, art galleries and museums.

The purpose of the role is to engage with the community regarding Council Property activities:

  • Planning, delivering and evaluating engagement with identified stakeholders who are affected by the delivery of a property project.
  • Undertake consultation, engagement and other activities to inform the development of projects being delivered by Council project managers.
  • Build relationships with community groups and understand modern community engagement techniques.
  • Take enquiries in relation to consultation from the general public about Council Property activities, and writing reports detailing outcomes from such engagement.

You will have good interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, be well organised, and focused on delivery of services to high standards.
